Start a Successful Business Today!

With Little or No Cash

You Don't Need Cash to Start a Business

Yes, it is easier to start a business with cash… and plenty of it. The reality is that most businesses are started without access to large sums of money to immediately launch the complete vision of the perfect business. Some businesses are easier to start with cash but many can be started without making large cash investments. Service-based businesses are easily set up and started with little or no cash. Trade services require certain tools of the trade and specific knowledge to start off with. Businesses that use office space or carry inventory require some cash investment to get started. Every business needs a certain amount of expertise and the time available to get started. You can start a new business immediately with no cash, your knowledge and setting aside a specific amount of time, whether that is one hour a day or one hour a week.

It would be really nice to start a business with a nice big cash cushion to get started with all the bells and whistles that you can think of to make a business startup run without a hitch. Having an ample cash flow to fund projects and take care of the inevitable bumps in the business plan reduces the risks and worries of starting a business. If you have startup cash, that’s great! You are one step ahead of those who don’t.

Startup Cash Can Not Guarantee a Successful Business

Having cash to start out with can give you a false sense of security that your business will be successful. A start up budget needs to be very tightly managed to ensure that the initial cash lasts long enough to cover necessary expenses till the business starts making money. If you run out of money before you start making money that does not mean that your business has failed. It only means you ran out of startup cash. You need to take a close look at your business plan and where the startup cash went so you don’t make the same mistakes again. In some cases, you may have to close your doors. Starting without a cash cushion you are more likely to spend your cash on only those things that will further the immediate development of your business and the generation of income.

Keep Doing What You Are Doing For As Long As You Can!

The safest way to start a new business is to keep doing what you are currently doing while you lay the groundwork for what you want to be doing. Jumping into something new without any sort of cushion to cover monthly living expenses makes transitioning your income to a new business extremely difficult.  The more upfront time spent planning, researching, and talking to others about your new business will build a strong foundation for your business while, at the same time, building a sustainable income.

The 3 Key Elements That Dictate The Success or Failure of Every Business are Belief, Action, and Persistence.

1.  You have to believe that what you are doing is what you are meant to be doing. You must know it is the right thing to do.  No-one has to agree with you. No-one has to understand why this is what you want to do. You want to do this because you know it is what you are meant to do. It is very easy to start working on something that we are interested in, really like to do, and that we want to work on. Finding the right support and resources to get started and stay motivated will be there for you when you need them, when you are looking for them. Starting a business from scratch takes a lot of work. When you discover what it is that you really want to do, the time and effort that is spent working toward and for your new business is  easy.

2.  You have to be pro-active in developing your business. The idea for a business comes from what you want and like to do. We don’t dream up things to do that we don’t want to do. You are in complete control over how fast or slow your business develops. It is never too late to get started. If you have a business idea that you could have done or should have done or would have done, right now is the perfect time to start. Define what you want that business to be. Do research. Write out a business plan. Start talking to people. Your business will succeed when you take steps toward its success.

3.  Do Not Give Up!!! The number 1 reason why small businesses fail is because the business owner gave up. There may be many reasons why they gave up, but any business will fail when its leader throws in the towel and gives up. When you are consistently drawn to working on a business idea then there is a reason why. When your plan does not work out like you planned then that is when you need to dig a little deeper within yourself and discover why it’s not working the way you planned. Sometimes you may need to take a break from it. You may need to market differently. You may need to change the structure of your business. Just because one way of doing what you want to does not work out well, does not mean that your business has failed.
